The Vitamin Shoppe Specialist, DC Support IT Ops in Ashland, Virginia

Location

The role is based in our Ashland, Virginia Distribution Center.

Overview

The IT Ops/Distribution Center Support Specialist is responsible for responding to and resolving end-user IT service requests and fill in for Computer Operations when needed. The scope of supported end-user equipment includes but is not limited to PCs, laptops, thin clients, tablets, laser printers, label printers, vehicle mount terminals and RF guns, and scanners. This position requires that the individual be proficient in a wide variety of end user technologies and associated operating systems.As inbound workload is received in the form of Service Desk requests, processes and procedures must support the efficient handling of such requests and the quality of the support rendered - “getting it fixed on the first attempt”.This is an on-site position working from our Distribution Centers in a production environment. Schedule: Sunday- Thursday 9:00 am- 5:30 pm EST.

Responsibilities

IT Distribution Center Support

  • Respond to, resolve, and close Distribution Center end-user IT service requests based on published procedures and policies.

  • Install, test and support computer peripherals such as laser printers and the device drivers required to access and operate the same.

  • Configure, test, deploy and support warehouse-based end-user technology (e.g., RF guns, mobile terminals, thin client stations, wireless/tethered scanners, label printers. etc.)

  • Tag all end-user IT assets, active and stored, and maintain inventory documentation.

  • Maintain warehouse based IT storage area clean and organized at all times.

  • Manage Mobile Device Management Tools: WaveLink Avalanche application and Touch Warehouse devices (Android devices) using SOTI Platform

  • Manage remote devices security software ensuring security policies are enforced.

  • Assist with store technology depot support; staging, testing, and shipping equipment as directed.

Data Center Operations

  • Assist in escalation procedures in support of VSI’s core operating processes and applications (e.g. JDA-MMS, Manhattan-WMS, Sterling-OMS, Sales Audit, Polling, etc.)

  • Assist in support of VSI’s core data center support systems (e.g. UPS, A/C, Fire Suppression, etc.

Infrastructure/Network Team Support

  • Assist the Home Office Infrastructure Systems and Network team with any scheduled projects related to installing new equipment, network or infrastructure changes. Provides assistance for any unscheduled installation or maintenance of equipment as a result of network or infrastructure change.

Other Functions:

  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • Associate degree in information technology or equivalent combination of intellectual instruction and work experience

Required Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems and commonly used office automation applications (Office, Outlook, Visio, etc.).

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of (4) years of experience in information technology.

  • Experience supporting Distribution Center / Retail Store Environments preferred.

Skill and Ability:

  • PC configuration and troubleshooting skills.

  • PC peripheral (e.g., printers, RF) configuration and troubleshooting skills.

  • Solid written and verbal communications skills.

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong desire to learn and expand skills.
